Ìlú Èkó: Facts about Lagos, The Economic Capital of Odùdùwà Republic

 


The City of Lagos (AKA ìlú Èkó) Is a town located in Southwest of Yoruba land, the city is well know for it's incredible desity, which could range up to 140,000 people per square kilometers in some areas. Eko Is also know as the most Populated black city in the world, with a Population of over 24,000,000 residence in it metropolis.

It was first settled by the awori subgroup of the Yoruba acient civilization in the 15th century, notably in the year 1699. After which the Portuguese trader came in and coined the name "Lagos", meaning lakes.

After the end of the slave trade, The City was later caputred by the British Colonizer, in an event called the "Bombardment of lagos" in 1851, which led to the first Regime changed by an outside power in the history of Lagos, it was in an attempt to end slavery.

After The Evil Berlin Conference, the city came under full British control which led to serise of exploration of resources through the Port of Lagos, now know as Apapa port, explotatexp dropped a bit after the creation of the Wastern Region in 1954 with capital located in city of Ibadan.

After the Fake independent granted by the evil Colonizer under the cruel leadership of "Elizabeth the Colonizer", the city was the second Largest and most populus in Yoruba land only after Ibadan. In 1963, it became the capital of the then Nigeria Federation Replacing Calabar as the capital.

The glory of Lagos began after the fall of fedralifed and beginning of unitary system of government in 1967, it was during this time that Lagos State was created, with the city of Lagos as the state capital, it continued to be State Capital until 1976 when it was switched to ikeja.

In 1991, the Fulani Government switched to Abuja as the Capital so as to have more control of the wealth of every one else. This however didn't Stop the growth of Lagos, as the old yoruba proverbs said "Ilé ọba tó jona, Ẹwà ló bú kún".

Here we are over 30 Years later, here are the few details that make Lagos a big deal for Odùdùwà Republic in the future, until maybe "Ìlú Ìbàdàn" Becomes the Big Apple of Odùdùwà Republic:

Total Land Mass Metro: 2,706.7 Km² (Still smaller than Ibadan)

Total Metropolitan Population: 24,000,000+ (4 × that of Ibadan)

Total Population Density: 8,000+/Km² (50 × that of Ibadan)

Total Nominal GDP: $91 Billions (2022) (10 × that of Ibadan)

Total GDP per Capital: $4000+ (2022) (3 × that of Ibadan)

Maybe one Day in the Future of Odùdùwà Republic Ibadan will be able to make a remarkable comeback to be the giant of Africa as it was From 1954 - 1967, easing Lagos of Heavy congestion of Commuters, making Lagos the Entertainment and Tourist capital of Africa, and Ibadan As the Economic Financial Capital of Africa.
